All everyone needs to do is remember that this is a game after all. All players need to do is dress to the level that they can, a) Afford to and, b)Fulfil the minimum "lookalike" levels with. Now, I know that there are many that strive for as close to 100% as they can and, I applaud them for that, good for them BUT, there are a growing number of players and potential players who feel, righly or wrongly, that their kit will not be up to perceived CiA standards.

CiA have planned all 2011 events around kit and weapons that many already have and, is simple to obtain for those that don't. WE REMAIN INCLUSIVE AND WELCOMING FOR ALL PLAYERS!

Now, can we please get back to taking the piss and going off topic, in the greatest tradition that we have on here? :good:

Huge apologies if my post has caused any unwanted debate, that certainly wasn't the intention.

Having not attended any of the CiA events so far, due to distances and duties, I'm very enthusiastic about this, as it's literally just down the road !! :happyclap:
Whilst it's a 'factional' scenario, it's believable, and therefore something which can be related to.
My intention is not to nit-pic details, or pull holes in anything, far from it - my query/queries with this and any game are only to get clear in my mind what is required to get the most out of the scenario for everyone's benefit and make the experience more immersive and enjoyable.

eg I'm currently trying to make a mkV Sten - it's in it's early stages, and will be probably 75-ish% accurate. As it's out of time, and not a 'good' copy, I wouldn't use it out of choice, even if it's finished. However, an ACM Mossberg, painted up as a 'Trench Gun', could well have found a pride of place with a lucky HG unit.

I'm not trying to **** on anybodies picnic, just trying to 'not let the side down' by blatent inaccuracies.

Again apologies if over-enthusiasm has caused any issues .....................

Joker, I'll most likely be toting a shotgun myself! One of the rare chances to actually get away with it :happyclap:.

I'm not sure about the Thompson 1928... I'd be interested to hear what people have to say about that.

Didn't Private Pike have one? :)

Well, I'm looking forward to this one, assuming I've not got anything else on that weekend, not been to Brecon for ten years.

Cheers

He did indeed, the 'Chicago piano', so that's settled then.
When The manager of the local cinema wouldn't let him in because it was a horror film, Pike said that if he was old enough to carry a Tommy gun, he was old enough to see Boris Karloff.

Awesome... that'll do me. :) lol!

From Home Guard website:
"The Home Guard were trained in using the earlier M1928 version and they do appear in wartime propaganda photos using the M1928 but it was probably only issued in very limited numbers to the Home Guard. Any that were issued were quite often withdrawn and issued to the regular army whose need was more pressing than the Home Guard's."

So ok for early(ish) home guard.. :)

A few things...

I'm 100% keen about this - a very cool idea and a nice chance to turn the Jedburgh tables on the germans. I'll be there if I can, and will be dragging along others as well, and I'm loving the idea of plus fours, tweeds and a hunting rifle.

In my experience, CiA has NEVER been exclusive, restrictive or so anal about kit that it makes people feel they can't come. I can understand that things may seem a bit intense if you just read the forums, but honestly, I've only been to a few events and I've seldom met a bunch of more inviting and welcoming folks. Don't be put off by people getting over excited about their patches, badges and blanco. It's not actually like that when you turn up.

Finally, I have a pile of foam and rubber spades, axes and picks and could easily knock up a pitch fork :)

Cheers sir, I have won a small wager with myself that you, sooner or later, would offer agricultural implements for game use and I am glad you didn't disappoint. :good: . A pitchfork is a great idea - however, while it may be of use when rounding up a jerry high-up I don't think the Führers elite would be quite so intimidated. On the other hand, a stealth-kill with a pitchfork might well be one of those special moments that would be re-told to generations of grandchildren to come. Heh, in other words, wile spades and pitchforks would be good fun to start with (and for photos) more conventional weapons may be of more use as events unfold.

So the HG weaponry would be the P14 and P17 at this time... I don't think anyone has ever made an airsoft one of either of them.

This line got me thinking, why not?
Ok it's a weapon that would have very limited use in the general theme of the regular scenarios that we cover, but that's never got in the way of a good plan.
From what I can see the rifle is actually an easier project than any of the SMLE's of No4's as the stock is one whole piece of timber and doesn't have the annoying stock join that so many people have a problem with (myself included) with a No4. Surely a bar 10 internals would fit easily in one of these with only the cocking handle being very wrong. The rear sights are on ebay for appx 20 -25 quid, a stock band with swivel mount and a few bits of fabrication but I bet a good look alike can be made.
I'll have a crack at it over the coming months and see what I can come up with.
Does anyone have a link to where I can get the exact dimensions for the rifle please. I did a quick search and got plenty pics but no specs.
Mods pleas move if this should be posted elsewhere
Thanks :)

Sounds great... I'd have a go myself, but I because of the very small possibility of usage it didn't seem quite worth it. Also I don't have much time!

But I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

I just found a bucket with a hole in and a rather nice dented shovel. Should go nice with my 'oh er missus' farmer gear and flat cap.

I did some photo reckon for the era and its all pretty accurate stuff so jobs a good en :)

I will also have a concealed grenade or 2 which i am working on disguising as a potato and several TnT sticks painted up as carrots.

oh i've also just been declared clinically insane but after my Jedburgh training i am evading capture

Besides all the things above and before i am very much looking forward to this event as i find that all the CIA games are the most thought out, best planned and best executed with a very good group of long serving , decent minded , dont take your self too seriously type of players.
Anyone new to all this that may be reading this thread and getting confused , dont worry , you dont need ALL of the Kit with the correct stitches and the correct shiny buttons and shiny boots, there are guys here that if you are concerned, will be more than happy to point you in the right direction. For the best advice follow Chomleys original posts on kit and weapons and use that as your guide.
not that im dissing anyone else's opinions, just hoping potentially new players to ww2 dont get the wrong idea..

cant wait
